A very short grullo colored mare moved easily through the grass; dark grey-creme colored hooves plodding easily through the blades that tickled her hocks. It was like a game, so see how far she could get before she would have to stand still. The sun shone down on her odd-style frame, highlighting and defining her almost red looking dorsal stripe and zebra markings over her four limbs. Her fore-lock came to the top of her blue eyes- that shone ever so softly as well in the soft light in the dappled shade of the trees. She was hoping to find a berry; though it was unlikely that she would be that lucky. Besides, wild-berries in the forest weren't always as trustful as she wished them to be. Some of the best-looking berries were always the more toxic or deadly, and that annoyed her, but didn't ruin her normally happy demeanor.
She was a loner, Yes. She had no herd, and neither had a stallion tried to court her or find her yet in the more scattered areas of the forest. She wasn't truly very far in; and if one would pay close enough attention, her grullo colored coat would be easily seen from the outside; though this rather tempted her to stay within the already dark shadows. If the stallion was right for her; he would take their time to find her through the trees and sweep her off her hooves. Though she rather liked an edge to a brute, but she had not found one yet. Outside of her mind, it didn't seem that she wanted a herd; a family or a mate, but inside, she want them dearly.

A dark bay stallion caught sight of the grullo mare's coat. His ears perked up as he trotted closer. "Hello," he said, smiling. "who're you?"

The Konik mare raised her head at the sound of approaching hooves, and flicked her long- red-looking- tail as she paused to look back at an approaching horse. She raised her muzzle slightly, taking in their musky scent, A stallion. The words crossed her mind as they continued closer, then she could hear the words spoken from the dark back brute. "Hello," She spoke, letting her head dip only slightly. She was already shorter than most horses around the place. "Kenai."

"Sayre." he replied, dipping his head low to the ground, much lower than he would for a horse that was as tall as him. He lifted his head back up and asked, "What are you doing out here alone?"

Kenai watched him dip his head, flicking her tail once more behind her. What was he like? She pondered this as he dipped his head, observing the brute quickly. He was plenty taller than her, at least by three if not four hands, she didn't like feeling small to other horses, but that couldn't be helped. She would just have to move over that. Almost all of the horses around here would be taller than her, and she knew it. As he lifted his head, she could see he had not many markings, except for a white sock on one of his back legs, and a rather short tail to his dark bay coat. She blinked her blue orbs lightly, looking up at his muzzle when he spoke again. "Wandering really." She answered the taller brute, watchful.

"I'm sorry." Sayre said quickly. He took a small step back quietly pawed at the ground, not really knowing what to do. He watched Kenai out of the corner of his eye. He could just see her blue eyes past her shaggy forelock, if he looked hard enough.

Kenai flicked her ears slightly when he apologized and took a step back. Had he picked up on her small discomfort already? She gave a quiet snort as she let her eyes focus on him, staring crossly for a moment.

Sayre took another step back. He tilted his head to the side and asked, "What? What'd I do?" He fidgeted uncomfortably under Kenai's gaze.

Kenai flicked her ears as he took another step back. "Is he shying away or giving me more space?" She asked herself, listening to him speak. "Nothing i suppose.." She said, flicking her tail as she watched him fidget.

He sighed. "If you say so." Sayre turned his head away so he wasn't looking right at Kenai. She was starting to scare him a little.

Kenai watched him as he sighed and spoke. Her harks fell back when he looked away, trying to hide in her rather short yet puffy mane. She let her blue eyes narrow slightly as they hid beneath her forelock. "I must be heading off, Sayre." She said, giving a light snort as she began to turn, and grey-creme hooves moving into a trot easily.

"Why are you-" Sayre cut himself off, snorting and shaking his head. "Fine. Goodbye."

Kenai shook out her mane, coming to a stop a short distance away. If he were to shout at her; she would be able to hear him, and the same the other way. She rolled her blue orbs silently as she began to graze lightly on the grass along the forests edge.

"Fine." Sayre muttered, scowling. "Just fine." He turned to walk away, grumbling to himself.
